Whether you found me on Instagram, Pinterest, or just by accident, I’m so glad you’re here! My name is Alexandra and I’m married to my best friend Mathieu. Originally from Chicago & Montreal, we currently live in Toronto with our little pup Lucky & little caramel Joshua. On my blog you’ll find a little bit about our life, as well as my favorites in travel, marriage and family. We have incredible writers that contribute advise and inspirational pieces here too! Be sure to look around and comment, we’d love to connect with you!
F A Q :
How old are you and where are you from?
I’m 27 years old, Romanian, and grew up in Chicago. My husband is 34, adopted Haitan and grew up in Montreal. And little Joshua turned 3 in November and was born in Toronto where we lived our first 6 years of marriage.
How did you guys meet?
We met by sheer coincidence; I was just moving home from Miami and Mathieu was coming for a 15 hour trip to Chicago to speak at a conference. He came for dinner at my parents home after a mutual friend introduced them and after his conference I showed him the city before his flight left. We naturally connected as friends exploring the architecture, trying new foods, and talking about our life. One week later we were falling asleep on FaceTime and spending all our free time glued to the phone. After 9 months we were engaged and a month later married to start the process for my move to Canada. Our wedding took place a couple months after that in Mexico with our close family and friends.
What do you and your husband do?
My husband started in a Networking Marketing company when he was 18 years old. He dedicated an incredible amount of hard work and time for 10+ years so that when he was ready to start a family he would be able to take it part time. Now the company is self sustained and he works only a couple hours a week and is a full time papa. He also travels once or twice a month globally to speak at conferences for entrepreneurs and personal development.
I fast tracked at my University and graduated with triple major in PR, Advertising and Journalism in 3 years. I worked during that time as well and then I worked as a free-lance branding specialist. When we were married my husband was able to support me as a stay at home wife and mama.
Right now we are constantly growing and developing in different parts of our life. Every month we take on a new project, add things to our investment portfolio and explore ways to earn passive income. We really love diversifying our eggs and enjoy talking about the importance of not putting all of them in one basket if anyone ever has questions.
How long did it take you to get pregnant?
We started trying right after we were married. We didn’t have a problem getting pregnant, I followed my ovulation and fertility to the T with an app. Unfortunately I did have a hard time carrying the pregnancies. We lost 4 babies before Joshua came into the world and one after he was born.
What does a regular day in the life look like to you?
In the morning our little guy wakes up around 8:30am. Mathieu and I stay in bed and unwind while we talk about our plans for the day until we go get Joshua and bring him to play in the bed with us. From then until 1 we both dedicate an electronic free morning to Joshua, we always try to go on a walk or a hike during this time. While he naps from 1-3pm we are able to get a good chunk of our work done and from then on we play it by day. Many times we run errands, try a new restaurant, go for dessert, and head to the gym. When it comes to housework we definitely prioritize quality time as a family above it and leave it for nighttime. No words will ever be able to describe how thankful we are for the type of life we get to live everyday.
What camera do you use and how do you edit your photos?
We shoot on the new Canon 6D with a 35mm 1.4 lens most of the time. All of my stories and some of my photos are shot on my iPhone Xs Max
I use Lightroom for all my editing and use a preset I’ve created for myself over time. There are so many great presets out there so if you need recommendations let me know!
I’ve always loved photography since I was a little girl and got my first DSLR camera for my 13th birthday so I’ve had a chance to learn and play for a little while. For anyone looking to up their camera skills, there are SO many resourceful videos on Youtube now that we didn’t have back them. Definitely take advantage of them.
