I’m so excited to be sharing another one of our favorite holiday family recipes on the blog today!
The holidays are the most special time of the year for us and I don’t know if it’s the holiday
music, decorations or the cool breeze that makes every breath feel so pure, but this season is
magical. It’s the time where we seem to slow down, to enjoy one another, and to put an
emphasis on family and how special it is to share our lives with one another.
One of our favorite things to do is cook as a family, especially this time of year. Anything from a
four course meal when we’re hosting friends, to a quick pancake blend when we want to spend
the morning in bed watching Christmas movies. We are foodies (and it runs deep).
So the number one question I get asked this holiday season is “How do you not spend all day
cooking and then cleaning the kitchen?” How do we cut down on things that are unnecessary to
focus on the family time, holiday visits, and joy of the season? And for us it’s simple- we use our
Vitamix Blender to help me make pretty much everything. From hummus and dips, to soups and
spreads, to hearty mains and delicious desserts; it helps cut my cooking and cleaning time in
half (if not more). We make everything in our Vitamix Blender in one way or another and it’s the only
appliance we leave on our counter. Banana chocolate chip pancakes? Tomato bisque soup?
Cauliflower pizza dough? Peanut butter ice cream? They all take me 10 mins or less in the
Vitamix A3500 Ascent Series Blender and as a mom being able to free up time to spend with my
family is the most amazing gift you can give me during the holidays.
One of our favorite family recipes right now is this yummy Banana Coconut Sorbet, and you can
also make it into a smoothie or acai bowl by adding more liquid or ice. It’s a less than 5 minute
recipe and it’s PERFECT for the holidays. And bonus* the ingredients are all nut, gluten and
dairy free so every single one of your friends and family can enjoy.
What You Need: (serves 3)
• A Vitamix Blender
• 2 Frozen Bananas
• 2 Pitted Dates
• 2 c Coconut Milk
• Favorite Toppings (berries, nuts, granola)
Directions:
1. Add Bananas, Dates and Coconut Milk to Blender
2. Blend on Sorbet program (or level 8)
3. Check consistency and reblend if needed (if you prefer it more runny, add a bit of milk, if you
prefer it more concentrated, add a couple ice cubes)
4. Next top with your favorite berries, chocolate, granola, or peanut butter (my favorite!)
The Vitamix blender is so easy to use and so versatile that really you can use your imagination
and create something delicious every time.
